Orange Cake


Orange Slices:

1 orange (sliced)

35g sugar

10g water



85g butter

75g granulated sugar

120g cake flour

3g baking powder

2 eggs

Notes: By cake flour, I mean low protein flour, which normally contains 7-9% protein (Mine is around 8%). Not self-rising flour.


  1. Heat water and 35g sugar until sugar dissolved. Add in orange slices, and heat until the orange slices softened.
  2. Line the cake pan with parchment paper; cover the bottom of the pan with orange slices.
  3. Grab a clean bowl, add in sugar and butter, and beat until smooth. Add 2 eggs (one by one) into the mixture and beat until well-combined (1 egg at a time). Add in cake flour and baking powder, and mix until smooth.
  4. Pour all the batter into the cake pan, smooth the surface. Preheat the oven to 347(175) and bake for 45 minutes.
