Ingredients:
Orange Slices:
1 orange (sliced)
35g sugar
10g water
Cake:
85g butter
75g granulated sugar
120g cake flour
3g baking powder
2 eggs
Notes: By cake flour, I mean low protein flour, which normally contains 7-9% protein (Mine is around 8%). Not self-rising flour.
Steps:
- Heat water and 35g sugar until sugar dissolved. Add in orange slices, and heat until the orange slices softened.
- Line the cake pan with parchment paper; cover the bottom of the pan with orange slices.
- Grab a clean bowl, add in sugar and butter, and beat until smooth. Add 2 eggs (one by one) into the mixture and beat until well-combined (1 egg at a time). Add in cake flour and baking powder, and mix until smooth.
- Pour all the batter into the cake pan, smooth the surface. Preheat the oven to 347℉(175℃) and bake for 45 minutes.
