Butter Cookies are classic, delightfully simple treats known for their rich buttery flavor and tender, melt-in-your-mouth texture. These cookies are typically made from a straightforward dough that includes butter, sugar, flour, and sometimes a hint of vanilla or almond extract to enhance the flavor. The high butter content gives them a luxurious, soft consistency that is slightly crumbly and very satisfying.

The dough for butter cookies is often rolled out and cut into various shapes using cookie cutters, making them popular during festive seasons like Christmas, when they can be shaped into stars, hearts, or other thematic forms. Alternatively, the dough can be piped into swirls or other intricate designs with a pastry bag.

Butter cookies are usually baked until just golden around the edges, ensuring they remain light in color and delicate in flavor. They are often adorned with a sprinkle of sugar, glazed with icing, or dipped in chocolate for added sweetness and visual appeal. These cookies are a staple in many cultures, enjoyed as a perfect accompaniment to tea or coffee, or simply as a sweet snack on their own.

  1. Softened the butter. Add in sugar, beat until light and fluffy. Add in eggs, and beat until well combined. Add in cake flour, and mix well.

  2. Divide into 3 portions. Add cocoa powder into one portion, and matcha powder into another portion. Mix well and transfer into separate piping bags.
  3. Preheat the oven to 320℉(160℃). Line the baking tray with parchment paper or baking mat. Pipe out the cookies dough. Let bake for 25 minutes. Cool and serve.

By cake flour, I mean low protein flour, which normally contains 7-9% protein (Mine is around 8%). Not self-rising flour.
