Cheese Bagels are a savory and delicious twist on the classic bagel, featuring a chewy interior and a crispy, golden exterior topped with melted cheese. These bagels are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a savory snack, offering a satisfying and flavorful treat that pairs well with a variety of toppings.

The dough for cheese bagels is made from a mixture of flour, water, yeast, sugar, and salt, kneaded until smooth and elastic. The dough is allowed to rise until doubled in size, then shaped into bagels. Before baking, the bagels are briefly boiled to create their characteristic chewy crust.

Once boiled, the bagels are topped with shredded cheese and baked until golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. The result is a bagel that is crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and bursting with cheesy flavor.

Cheese Bagels can be enjoyed plain or with a variety of spreads such as cream cheese, butter, or even more cheese. They can also be used to make delicious sandwiches or served as a side with soups and salads.

These bagels are perfect for any occasion, offering a savory twist on a classic favorite. They are sure to be a hit with anyone who loves the combination of chewy bagels and melted cheese.

  • 250 g bread flour
  • 10 g granulated sugar
  • 3 g salt
  • 3 g instant yeast
  • 175 g milk
  • 110 g cream cheese (softened)
  • Grated parmesan cheese (topping)
  1. In the stand mixer bowl, bring together bread flour, sugar, salt, instant yeast and milk, beat until a soft dough ball forms. Divide the dough ball into five pieces, roll them into small dough balls, and cover with plastic wrap and let rest for 30 minutes.

  2. Soften the cream cheese and transfer into a piping bag. Roll each dough ball flat, pipe in the cream cheese filling, roll it up and shape into a bagel. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise until doubled in size.
  3. Preheat the oven to 200℃(392℉). In a pot, put in 500g water and 20g granulated sugar, heat until simmer, put in each bagel; cook for 20 seconds each side.
  4. Dust each bagel with grated parmesan cheese. Line the baking tray with a baking mat or parchment paper. Send the bagels into the oven to bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown. Let the bagels cool and serve.
